Camp Policies

Due to our Unleashed! Day Camp having structured and consistent social groups, we bill on a 4 week interval. We hope that your dog will attend year round. Our program is open 48 weeks per year, which is why we bill every 4 weeks. We do not prorate tuition based on illness, travel, etc because we do not take “drop ins” to fill that space as part of our program. We do not offer refunds for missed days, or if you decide to withdraw without 30 days notice. Your tuition reserves for your dogs space on their scheduled day.

Tuition for the month is due prior to the 1st of each month. The tuition billed pays for your dogs scheduled days for that month. Cash/check payments will be due on your dogs’ last day of camp, prior to the 1st of the next month. Payments made on, or after the 1st will have a $25 late fee per week. There are no make up days for schedule closed holidays, vacations or inclement weather.

If your dog will be absent, you are welcome to contact us to schedule make up days for any missed days within 3 months. If your dog is absent to quarantine after attending a dog park, or other daycare, no make up days will be issued. Make up days can be used on days when we have space available and if your dog interacts well with the group scheduled to attend on that day. We do require at least 30 days notice for a cancellation of auto payment for camp, or a reduction in the number of days that your dog will attend camp to ensure we have adequate staff and are not over crowded. We pride ourselves on a low staff to dog ratio and determine staff scheduling for the month based on enrollment for the upcoming month. Courteous Canine is committed to offering you the quality you expect and deserve. We have worked to have a structured, safe program while still offering engaging programming for your dogs.

Courteous Canine and Unleashed! Day Camp Liability Waiver & Policies

• Courteous Canine LLC will endeavor to create as safe an environment as possible for the training and boarding care of my dog and will offer only sound, safe, and responsible training, care, and post-boarding training instructions. However, I recognize that Courteous Canine LLC is not responsible for any unintentional errors, omissions, or incorrect assertions. I understand that the recommendation of any other product or service is not a guarantee of my satisfaction with that product or service. Further, I am and will remain responsible for the actions of my dog at all times and I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Courteous Canine LLC of any and all claims of injury, expense, costs, or damages caused by the actions of my dog while under Courteous Canine LLC care and under my own care as a result of following training instructions. I have been told by Courteous Canine LLC and understand the inherent risks in owning a dog, including but not limited to the risk of dog bites to myself or others.

• I authorize Courteous Canine LLC to take my dog into public spaces during his/her stay for the purpose of training my dog.

• I authorize emergency medical care to be provided for my dog(s) by a veterinarian, or an appropriate alternate to be determined by Courteous Canine LLC in the event the my regular veterinarian is not available or that closer care is required. I will reimburse Courteous Canine LLC for any charges related to emergency care, including office visits, procedures, medications, surgeries, etc.

• Attending Veterinarians: Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, nearest available veterinarian or client’s personal veterinarian. In non-emergency situations every attempt will be made to contact clients before transporting to solict their preference. In emergency situations Courteous Canine will decide which option to transfer to.

• I authorize Courteous Canine LLC to seek medical treatment and care for my dog(s) as determined appropriate by Courteous Canine LLC and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Courteous Canine LLC for all and any results thereof. Courteous Canine may authorize treatment /care up to $_________ without contacting me. I agree to reimburse all charges in full. Courteous Canine may charge them to my credit card on file. OR I DO NOT authorize Courteous Canine LLC to seek medical treatment and care for my dog(s) as without contacting me and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Courteous Canine LLC for all and any results thereof of delays in my dog(s) receiving medical treatment and care if they are unable to contact me for authorization.

• I authorize Courteous Canine LLC to administer or seek 1st aid and rescusitive care for my dog(s) as determined appropriate by Courteous Canine LLC and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Courteous Canine LLC for all and any results thereof. OR I DO NOT authorize Courteous Canine LLC to administer or seek 1st aid and rescusitive care for my dog(s) as determined appropriate by Courteous Canine LLC and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Courteous Canine LLC for all and any results thereof.

• Payment Policy: I agree to either payment in full for my scheduled days on the first of the month, additional days may be scheduled and booked and paid al a cart.

• Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of scheduled days by the client must be at least 1 month prior to the first of the month. Clients must notify Courteous Canine in writing of changes in # of days scheduled per month or cancellation of enrollment.

• Courteous Canine LLC will endeavor to create as safe an environment as possible for supervised off leash care of my dog and will offer only sound, safe, and responsible care. However, I recognize that Courteous Canine LLC is not responsible for any unintentional errors, omissions, or incorrect assertions. I understand that the recommendation of any other product or service is not a guarantee of my satisfaction with that product or service. Further, I am and will remain responsible for the actions of my dog at all times and I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Courteous Canine LLC of any and all claims of injury, expense, costs, or damages caused by the actions of my dog while under Courteous Canine LLC care. I have been told by Courteous Canine LLC and understand the inherent risks in owning a dog, including but not limited to the risk of dog bites to myself or others.

• I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Patience Inspired Training and Michelle and Jason Alexandre of any and all claims of injury, expense, costs, or damages caused by the actions of my dog while under Courteous Canine LLC care and under my own care as a result of following training instructions. I have been told by Courteous Canine LLC and understand the inherent risks in owning a dog, including but not limited to the risk of dog bites to myself or others.

• I authorize Courteous Canine LLC to bill my monthly enrollment fee for my dog(s) on the first of every month. Courteous Canine LLC may bill additional al a cart services to my credit card on file at my request. Emergency medical treatment up to the amount authorized above, may also be charged to my card on file without additional authorization.

  Kennel Cough Policy

• We require a yearly Bordetella vaccination. We recommend that you, re-vaccinate for Bordetella every 6 months. This can lessen the severity of the virus if your dog is exposed to it; however, it may not protect your dog from contracting every strain of the virus. If your dog isn’t vaccinated, or their vaccination has expired they will not be allowed to attend our Unleashed! Day Camp. Proof of vaccination is required. Just a reminder that our policy states that if your dog goes to a dog park, or boarding facility they must remain out of daycare for a period of 10 days to ensure they don’t have any viruses before returning to daycare here. If your dog attends another daycare they will not be able to attend Unleashed! Day Camp. To help us prevent the illness from entering the facility, it is important that you share if your dog has attended a dog park (never recommended as no one checks vaccinations status), boarded, attended daycare at another facility, or has been to the groomers recently. Dogs must quarantine before returning for 10 days after boarding, or attendance at daycare at another facility or attending a dog park. You do not have to quarantine after grooming.

  We take all measures to prevent the spread of this cough in a social interactive environment. It is airborne so despite a rigorous cleaning routine, the condition can spread very quickly amongst a group of dogs. It is a tricky condition to control because dogs can carry it for several days before showing symptoms. This means that it is very easy for this kennel cough to sneak in to our facility and spread itself before the first cough even comes. Depending on your dog’s immunity and resistance to illness and their age, they may have very mild symptoms or a very annoying “honking” cough that persists for days. If your dog has shown any signs while at our Unleashed! Day Camp, the staff will isolate them, contact you and make arrangements for them to be picked up. They will be able to return once they have been cleared by your veterinarian. If your dog has shown any signs while in class at Courteous Canine, the staff will ask you to leave class and schedule a makeup for when your dog has been cleared by your veterinarian.

  Since 2008, we have had only 3 outbreaks of Kennel Cough. We owe this achievement to the hard work and dedication of our staff that spends a significant portion of time every day making sure the facility is as clean as can possibly be...all while ensuring each guest is having fun and learning in a safe environment.   Kennel Cough: Dogs need to be asymptomatic and cleared by their veterinarian to return to camp or class. It

  typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to run its course in a young healthy dog with no health conditions.

  Positive Fecal: Veterinarian confirms they are not contagious, or they retest and have a negative result.

  Bitches in Season/Heat: Proestrus lasts an average of 9 days. Males are attracted to female but she is not receptive. Vulva will usually be swollen with blood tinged discharge. Estrus is the stage where the female is receptive to the male. Stage can last an average of 9 days based on behavioral signs. Fertile period occurs during this time. Vulva is enlarged, softens a little. Decrease in blood and vulvar discharge. Followed by Diestrus (2 months) and Anestrus (4 months). Bitches can return to camp/class when they complete Estrus and have been completely groomed.
